What she manages to capture in her artworks is her own kinesthetic curiosity as she floats in the ocean or dives down to capture the fluid moments presented in her photographs. Through the use of intimate perspectives, Carter seeks to embody seeing as a sesual experience – sometimes infused with haunting memories of myths, stories and innocence – rather than solely as an objective observation. By suspending the body in a place of isolation and destabilization Carter’s offers a sensuous and psychologically compelling encounter. Her phtographs seem to speak about both our vulnerability and pleasures in these environments.
